(I'm the poster below who was dinged for Early Notification. But they let me in for Regular Decision!). E-mail to check website. Not so great GPA, but superb essays and superb LORs. No funding awarded though, so will be turning this down in favor of my top choice.

Straight out of undergrad. Received an email from a professor whose research interests align perfectly with mine. Formal letter and fellowship info will come in the next few weeks. Does anyone know if this means you're getting a fellowship/research assistantship with this professor or if everybody gets these personalized emails?

Master Of Science

A Master of Science (Latin: Magister Scientiae; abbreviated MS, M.S., MSc, M.Sc., SM, S.M., ScM or Sc.M.) is a master's degree in the field of science awarded by universities in many countries or a person holding such a degree. In contrast to the Master of Arts degree, the Master of Science degree is typically granted for studies in sciences, engineering and medicine and is usually for programs that are more focused on scientific and mathematical subjects; however, different universities have different conventions and may also offer the degree for fields typically considered within the humanities and social sciences. While it ultimately depends upon the specific program, earning a Master of Science degree typically includes writing a thesis.

Graduate Record Examination

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is globally accepted for admissions to graduate and PhD programs. GRE scores are used for cutoffs only. A good GRE score will not guarantee admission to top colleges, but a low GRE score can definitely disqualify you from considering your application.
