Coming directly from undergrad. No working exp. non CS background, two years of research experience in psychology. CMU is the best I could ask for and its totally unexpected. My background is mediocre so I guess the only thing that get me in is my essay. Hope this inspire ppl who want to try.

Surprised because I had relatively low GRE (especially writing) but I just got accepted and am so excited! I guess my portfolio was more important than the scores? The first acceptance letter and I am so relieved now.

3 of 3! I had just gotten an acceptance email from Indiana University Bloomington. Then I was curious and checked UT's portal and saw that I was accepted. I'm shaking. After IUB and UT I don't think I care about my other apps' decisions.

Master Of Science

A Master of Science (Latin: Magister Scientiae; abbreviated MS, M.S., MSc, M.Sc., SM, S.M., ScM or Sc.M.) is a master's degree in the field of science awarded by universities in many countries or a person holding such a degree. In contrast to the Master of Arts degree, the Master of Science degree is typically granted for studies in sciences, engineering and medicine and is usually for programs that are more focused on scientific and mathematical subjects; however, different universities have different conventions and may also offer the degree for fields typically considered within the humanities and social sciences. While it ultimately depends upon the specific program, earning a Master of Science degree typically includes writing a thesis.

Graduate Record Examination

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is globally accepted for admissions to graduate and PhD programs. GRE scores are used for cutoffs only. A good GRE score will not guarantee admission to top colleges, but a low GRE score can definitely disqualify you from considering your application.
